Double Eyelid Surgery or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to remove  skin.Double Eyelid surgery uses incisions on the skin to allow for removal of skin and fat. A thin stitch is then used to bring the skin together to allow for a creation of an eyelid crease. Double Eyelid Surgery is performed to remove those fats and excess skin as person aged, improves appearance and improve vision. It is performed to create an upper eyelid crease.

Upper eyelid excess skin and fat can create a heavy looking eyelid, aged appearance, puffiness, and sometimes block vision. Upper blepharoplasty is performed to remove excess skin and fat and can improve vision. There is also a surgery for the lower eyelid or Lower Blepharoplasty. Recovery period;

After Double Eyelid Surgery the incisions will be red, swollen and bumpy. Patient’s are adviced to do a cold compress to removed swelling. Sutures will be removed after a week or after the wound is fully healed and dry. The swelling and discoloration will gradually subside after a week. Swelling and bruising varies from person to person. Bruises usually disappear after a week or two. Seven days after surgery patient is not allowed to use make-up.

Expect a blurry vision for a couple of days. Your eyes may sensitive to light, and may experience excess tearing or dryness. Make sure to keep the area clean and dry always. And wash your hands always to avoid infection.

First week after Double Eyelid Surgery, patient should avoid activities that uses the eyes always like watching tv, reading books, computer and please avoid using contact lens. Excessive blinking can lead to excessive swelling. Avoid sun exposure and wear eyeglases when gong out to protect the eyes from dirt and dust. A full rest and a frequent nap is advised to relax the eyes.

Your doctor will also advised you to avoid bending, lifting, exercise and heavy activities for the first month after surgery. You should ask your doctor if when is the right time you can resume your daily exercise and routine.
